Dear Friends:
Change is brewing at Bhakti Chai. What began as a way to transport myself back to India--standing over a pot of homemade chai and inhaling the layers of spice as memories glided across my mind--has now become my full-time job and the work of six other employees! Bhakti even has its own Facebook page!
Thanks to the efforts and energy of our new sales team, we now have over 60 accounts in Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder County and smaller mountain towns. You can even take Bhakti home from area Whole Foods and Wild Oats stores. Click here for complete list of locations.
I'm happy to report that as we grow, we continue to operate in a green, environmentally responsible way. Elephant Journal, a national yoga and lifestyle magazine based in Boulder, recently praised Bhakti for not only making great chai, but for using organic, fair-trade ingredients and operating with sustainable practices. Click here to read the Elephant review, and feel free to post any additional comments.
From all of us at Bhakti Chai, thank you for supporting our locally micro-brewed masala chai!
Best,
Brook, Beau, Rose, Gabe, Theo, Misa, Lori, & Jenai.....and countless others that help us everyday!
BMoCA presents Bhakti at Boulder Farmers' Market
Who doesn't love the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA)? Last fall's exhibit, Weather Report: Art and Climate Change, brought national acclaim to our local museum after a year of hard work and planning. But all that work takes money. That's why BMoCA sets up during the Saturday Farmers' Market with 100 percent of proceeds going toward the nonprofit and local arts. Bhakti Chai proudly joins Allegro Coffee at the BMoCA stand (located directly in front of BMoCA's 13th Street location). Stop by and show your support for local art with a steaming Bhakti or as the blazing summer arrives, an iced Bhakti.
Every Saturday until November from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Spotlight: Trident Booksellers and Café
The Trident Café is steeped in literary tradition. Decades ago, it was frequented by beat poet Allen Ginsberg. Today Anne Waldman and other Boulder literati choose the coffee shop and independent bookstore as their place to work, read or just enjoy a drink with a good friend. The Trident recently added Bhakti Chai to its menu of pastries, quality espresso drinks, coffees and tea. So stop by the Trident, enjoy some chai, and take in this café's historic charm!
Visit the Trident 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday
7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Sunday
Cocktail Hour!
Summer is almost here, and it's time to break out the patio gear (e.g., the martini glasses). Those looking for a new summer standby will want to try Vodka 14, a Boulder distillery that brews spirits in small, high-quality batches. Vodka 14 is one of a growing number of Colorado micro distilleries that are eliminating mass production and paying special attention to quality. Plus, it's 100-percent organic.
For a new twist, try a Bhaktini, which combines tasty Vodka 14 with a splash of ginger-infused Bhakti Chai.
What We're Cooking: Chai Pancakes
This recipe is a great way to spice up your morning routine. In addition to pancake batter, try adding Bhakti concentrate to muffin and cake mixtures.
Ingredients
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
2 T margarine, melted
1 cup flour
1 T sugar
3 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 cup Bhakti Chai concentrate
Beat egg until fluffy, adding in milk, melted margarine and chai. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add about 1/4 cup batter to a heated, oiled griddle, and spread it out with a spoon. When bubbles begin to appear on one side, flip and cook for approximately the same time. Drizzle with warm maple syrup and serve with fresh raspberries.
